A small group, known as the Independents, are laying low, looking for work after having lost the war to the Alliance. Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion), an Independent Captain, has been running the ship Serenity, along with others on his crew, they've managed to find work by transporting passengers across the galaxy. Soon Serenity finds new passengers, Simon (Sean Maher) and River Tam (Summer Glau). Unfortunately, River was once held captive by the Alliance for her uncanny psychic abilities and now the members on board are faced with the relentless pursual of their sworn enemy.
