The Promotion
$14.00
Released September, 2008
The Pros:A light, low-key comedy. Portrays regular Joes. Emphasizes many work-life truths.
The Cons:Quirky humor might be too off-beat for some. Sincere tone sometimes results in a focus on character development instead of comedy. Strange pacing results in slow segments of the movie.
Doug Stauber (Sean William Scott) is 33, recently married, and the assistant manager of a supermarket in Chicago. Doug hears from his boss about a new company supermarket opening soon, along with a new Full Manager position at the store.

Doug thinks he’s a “shoo-in” until his rival Richard Welhner (John C. Reilly) shows up from Canada, and begins to compete for the same job. Richard has more experience, a wife and daughter, and is a friendly person too. Though the two men have seemingly little in common, fierce competition for the promotion teaches them that they are more alike than they had once suspected.
