the Wizard

$20.00 Released December, 1989

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Power Glove plays a major role...acts as a "character" to the plot. First preview of Super Mario Bros 3 in North America. The movie title and premise are in obvious reference to the Who's "Pinball Wizard" aka "Tommy".

The Cons:Fred Savage wears the Power Glove in the poster...but not in the movie. Not enough face-time for the Power Glove....it's sooooooooooo bad. Incorrectly refer to the "warp whistle" as the "magic flute".

A boy and his two friends run away from home and hitch cross country to compete in the ultimate video game championship.  This movie induced many kids to conclude that becoming a video game professional was indeed a feasible vocation.

...nearly 20 years later this movie seems to have come to fruition.  One of the best movie lines of all time comes from this movie when the evil video game nemesis holds his mighty POWER GLOVE in the air and exclaims, "The power glove is soooooooooooooo bad!".  This movie also introduced Super Mario Bros. 3 to the mainstream....but somehow Fred Savage already knew about the "magic flute" that warps Mario to the end of the game.   The all-star cast includes Fred Savage, Christian Slater, and Jenny Lewis (now lead singer of the band Rilo Kiley).

Excellent choice for "Ninja Gaiden" as the round-robin game in the competition.
